Mom and Dad Roller Crouch Funeral Home Entry February 11, 2009
From the moment they placed you in my arms you warmed my heart and so greatly enriched my life. It has been such an honor for your dad and I to have given you life and then participated in it for 37 years. You, Michelle and Garry Lynn have given to us a gift and purpose to live. You did some things that Dad and I considered foolish but one thing for sure is that you did them with enthusiasm . Just as you embraced all you life choices. Sometimes our hearts know things before our minds. My heart was deeply burdened on that Jan. 26 morning without a mindset from where the burden was coming from. I prayed vigiliant untill finally I released the unknow into God's infinite wisdom and care. In no way did I ever imagine I was releasing you into eternity . My heart breaks and my mind keeps asking why. The only truthI I do understand today is that nothing is harder than the pain of missing you, One testimony I'm hearing over and over about you is how you brought the gift of laughter to every one you associated with. Those that can cheer somone else is indeed a blessing. You developed into a most thoughtfull, considerate and compassionate gentlemen and are greatly missed by family and friends. You will live in our hearts forever.
We love you: MOM and DAD

Greg, I wish we had stayed close over the years. I have so many memories of the farm and having fun with you when we were kids. I remember the egg hunts, playing in the hay in the barn, jumping on your bed, walking down that old red dirt road...the last time I spoke to you was in 1994 when your parents stopped in Tennessee to visit us. I wish I had been able to see you and catch up. I wish I had called you more over the years. I would have loved for you to meet my husband Steve. He's in the Army and he loves to hunt. You two would have got along great. He would have loved to visit the farm. I know you will be deeply missed my everyone you knew and those whose hearts you touched in so many ways. I'll keep these childhood memories of you always. Love you. Christy

I was honored to work with Greg during the aftermath of Katrina and Rita at Belle Chase, LA. Greg was a wonderful man, soldier and friend. Whenever he entered a room, people just lit up. Greg's smile, quiet sense of humor, kindness and generosity will live in my mind forever. Thank you for sharing him with the world.

There are soldiers who receive the calling early in life because the Lord is like a General who believes in surrounding himself with great warriors.

To my brother in Christ, my fellow soldier, my friend, Sergeant Gregory Sutherland. You will be deeply missed and honored for the rest of our days here without you. What a blessing it has been to know you, an honor to have served our flag with you, and a privledge to have shared many a good time on the water with you. A true patriot, a loving husband and father, and most of all, a compassionate and honorable man. I more loyal soldier and friend will we ever find. There are some people in this world, that upon their passing we find it impossible to adequately recount the true value and worth of what their life has meant to others. So selfless was his nature, so eager to work hard so that the burden might have been lighter on others. Greg was one of those guys. He will forever be the measure of a man, a soldier, and a Sergeant in my mind. God Bless the family and friends of this brave warrior who has passed from our midst. Karen, I and many "Red Dog" alike owe so much to your dearly departed husband. I know that I speak for all of his fellow brothers-in-arms when I sincerely state that we are forever at your service....as he was for all of us.
